Lexan 3c Trumpet Mouthpiece
Lexan material provides educators and private instructors easy viewing of students’ lip placement and aperture during playing time on an actual mouthpiece, with true pressure and resistance. I can’t say enough about these mouthpieces, they just feel more comfortable and easier to play than metal. They are warmer to the touch as opposed to metal that takes on the indoor/outdoor temperature. These are great for marching band and outdoor activities. I often play the 3c standard in lessons. Trying different mouthpieces is an educational experience. It is also a necessary step for discovering how you can sound your best. Have fun!

Now take the strip of beeswax (if you have a block it will be very easy to cut a strip off. The strip should be about 130 to 150 mm long (5″-6″) and about 7-15 mm thick(1/4″-3/4″) depending on the top inside diameter of your didgeridoo). stages in repairing a didgeridoo mouthpiece

Now you want to press the wax against the inside of the didj. This is best done by pushing the wax downward allowing it to peter out (we do NOT recommend that you cut your didj in order to check your mouthpiece). You will have to feel with your finger as you push the wax against the timber that you end up with a continuous seal

Here an example of what it shouldn’t look like if you could see the bottom of the mouthpiece. Note the gaps between wax and timber, specially in the 4 o’clock position.
For convenience, this information refers to a good reed that is matched/mated to a fine mouthpiece. (Many reeds have a far different calling - often best suited to serve hors d’ouevres, to spread glue, to serve as a wedge, shim, toothpick, kindling, etc. - bien sur..!) Also, when the term “good reed” is employed, it refers to a reed that will play with good results over many weeks and months, perhaps even for a period of a year or more.

Join the circle. Note how well the mouthpiece is already shaped. Keeping the approximate size and shape of the final hole in mind during this first stage saves lots of correcting later on.
Saxophone Mouthpiece Facing Charts
This information was copied verbatim from the 1995/1996 price list of The Saxophone Shop Ltd, 2834 Central Street, Evanston, IL 60201.

The top line of each chart describes the opening in thousandths of an inch.

Charts are available for Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone mouthpieces.

1) the instrument is powered by wind which forces a reed to vibrate
2) sound energy from the reed is coupled to the bore by a mouthpiece
3) pitch is determined by the variable length of the conical or cylindrical bore
4) the mouthpiece and bore act like a sympathetic, pitch-selective (harmonic) resonator

The WARBURTON system facilitates the brass player’s choosing of a mouthpiece with the optimum combination of rim diameter, cup style and depth, and backbore.
This unique ability allows a player to fit together a mouthpiece that will best balance sound and resistance with his own instrument.
The choices available with the WARBURTON system will afford one the most efficient mouthpiece with which to perform in any given playing situation.
o. 4 is the throat, generally cylindrical in shape and having straight or almost straight sides. The throat extends in length from perhaps 1/8 inch or less back to as much as 3/4 inch. No. 5 is the backbore, that part of the mouthpiece which extends from the throat to the lower end of the mouthpiece.
